Did ACP End? How to Transition to Lifeline & Recertify in 2026

ACP ended in 2024. Learn how Lifeline eligibility, annual recertification and state-specific renewal procedures work in 2026.

ACP ended on June 1, 2024 and no longer accepts recertification or new applications in 2026. Lifeline is a different, active benefit program. Verify eligibility with USAC.

Program status

ACP recertification is no longer available

The FCC ended the Affordable Connectivity Program after funding expired in 2024. An email or website offering a new 2026 ACP application or ACP recertification does not describe the active federal program. Visit the FCC's ACP wind-down information for the official end date and background.

What to do instead

Check Lifeline eligibility and annual recertification

  1. Check whether your household qualifies through SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, eligible housing or Veterans benefits, a Tribal program or 135% of the income guideline.
  2. If you already have Lifeline, read the recertification notice carefully and follow its requested process by the stated deadline.
  3. For most states, use Lifeline Support recertification guidance. Texas uses a state-administered Lifeline process, and California LifeLine has additional state renewal administration.
  4. Compare participating providers and make sure you understand the new service charge after any Lifeline discount.
